When two people meet by chance, and find out by a whisper that they were meant to be together, nothing will stop their love.
Shantel Whittaker, financial adviser with Sagicor, and Warren Henry, co-owner/computer technician at Macplus Technology Ltd., joined hands in holy matrimony on Sunday, July 27, 2014. Family and friends were all in attendance to witness the nuptials of this beautiful couple at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica.
Both hail from the small town of Linstead, St. Catherine, and met on Christmas Eve of 2006. Shantel was home alone one night and really wanted to go out and have fun but felt unsure regarding where to go. She decided to go and play pool near her home. She saw Warren across the room and thought he was cute. She decided to have some fun and went over and challenged him to a game. Once they locked eyes on each other, they never left each other’s side for the rest of the night. Warren knew he had met the love of his life.
After only one year of dating, he asked Shantel to marry him there and then on Shantel’s late grandma’s verandah. They were in love but both knew that it was best to wait awhile before rushing in to such a big decision. A few years later, they moved in together to an apartment in Kingston.
The couple realized how good God has been to them. With a hard economic climate, lay-offs, job repositioning, death of loved ones, both had to seriously look to each other and their families for constant support. With the blessing from their families, Warren decided that after seven (7) years of being together through thick and thin, he would propose on Christmas Eve 2013, at the Knutsford Court Hotel.
A few months later, on this very special day, at the same venue, they would kiss to their future. With a rose red and gold theme, the decorations coordinated beautifully. Candles and crystals adorned the tables. On entering guests were able to sign a beautiful portrait of the couple by noted photographer Merrick Cousley. Chairs wrapped in white and elegantly tied in a red ribbon graced the lawns of the Knutsford Court Hotel for a small intimate wedding.
Shantel wore a stunning strapless dress with a dazzling jewelled trim designed by Mori Lee. The dress had a mermaid silhouette and flared with ruffled details at the end for a fabulous finish. Warren wore a grey slim fit, three piece Italian designer Tazio suit.
Jamaican media personality and Master of Ceremony for the night, Kerie Ann “Kiki” Thombs, engaged the audience throughout the evening and emphasized the importance of couples praying together through thick and thin.
The couple and their guests danced the night away, Warren & Shantel knowing, without a shadow of a doubt that they would love each other for a thousand years.
“We loved every minute of the day but it seemed to be over too quickly, and we literally enjoyed every minute of planning the wedding – from finding suppliers that we trusted and who understood the vision we had, to sitting and spending hours and hours searching the web for program designs and music to help the day to be as perfect as we wanted it to be.”
